Through the murkiest of Aprils;
with storms constantly passing by.
It should have been no surprise
that my monkey shoes wouldn’t stay dry.
But what I didn’t count on,
as you can plainly see,
is the trail of mud I left
with every step behind me.
I must have been distracted.
I didn’t realize I walked in mud.
But I guess it could have been easy
with constant downpours and coastal floods.
The carpet and floors are dirty,
so I’ve got some cleaning to do.
I wish I had more time today,
to deal with my muddy monkey shoes.
